Last week I was on the radio every evening playing a song and talking about my music. It was a great opportunity – made the more special by the fact these opportunities for local musicians are getting harder to come by. You may not know that such BBC initiatives like “BBC Listening..” and “…in session” have experienced cutback and “consolidation” which makes it much harder for new artists from the grassroots to be discovered. Is this important? Yes, I can name a whole host of now famous musicians who got their first break with BBC Introducing – one example is Lewis Capaldi.
So I was very very lucky & fortunate to get this opportunity. Sadly I was not live in the BBC studios with a live QA – so all the music was pre-recorded and the QA was recorded at home. I would have loved to be in the radio studios themselves – but I’m grateful for the chance to get my music heard by a wider audience. I had to pinch myself to hear one of my songs played along side other musicians whom I much admire – I’m not worthy of being played after the La’s “There she goes again”!
Anyway, I captured all the sessions and posted them on YouTube as a playlist – so can listen to all the talk & music in one easy-to-reach place:
