In this 3rd and final VMwareWag in the vCenter5.1 series myself and Justin King take a look at the improvement to the vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA). I recently made the switch away from the Microsoft Windows based vCenter and using Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 as the backend DB, to using the VCSA. Much was that was triggered by the massive changes I’ve made to my lab environment in readiness for learning more and getting more out of vCloud Director. That involved some hefty changes including decommisioning one of my vCenter servers; creating new clusters; new Distributed vSwitches and a new structure for my storage. So I thought I might as well bite the bullet and make the switch now, rather than further down the line. The useful thing to me in my lab was the removal of one additional VM I don’t need makes room for more VMs and vApps and other virtual appliances I might want to pull into the environment. Anyway enough my wittering on about my lab!
Many thanks to Justin for his efforts during the podcast series. People forget its the chinwaggie that really does the hardwork. And if there any other collegues would like to be on the show to talk about what they do to contribute to vSphere and Cloud Suite – you know how to find me!
